Safer world for people and animals
Wild animals are used as entertainment, medicine, food, or pets all over the globe. The multi-billion-dollar wildlife trade causes them to endure years of pain.
COVID-19 is believed to have originated in a market that sold wild animals to the wet. This pandemic forces us to realize that wildlife protection is a matter of human rights. Stopping the wildlife trade will not only help animals, but also people and the planet.
1. Wild animals will be protected from extinction by you
The wildlife trade is one reason why an estimated 1,000,000 species of animal and plant species are in imminent danger of extinction. Stopping the trade will help conservation efforts and prevent these animals disappearing forever.
2. Your actions will help stop the spread of potentially deadly diseases
More than 60% of emerging infectious diseases are zoonotic, and 72% are believed to be caused by wild animals. We can significantly reduce the chance of another pandemic that is caused by zoonotic diseases by ending the exploitation and exploitation of wildlife.
3. Stop the exploiting of wild animals as entertainment
Entertainment is provided by elephants, tigers and bears around the globe. Over 3,000 elephants have been trapped in tourist areas in Asia alone. They are subject to cruel training, overwork, isolation, and other terrible conditions that can lead to a variety of mental and physical diseases.

4. Your contribution will help save and restore the planet
Our natural environment absorbs an estimated 5.6 gigatons each year. Tragically, however, biodiversity is rapidly declining faster than any time in human history. This results in severely depleted ecosystems.
If our forests and oceans are in decline, they become less capable of absorbing climate warming gases and providing food, water, and air. Conservation of wild animals and their habitats can help to fight climate change and preserve the natural resources we all need.
5. Your actions will help to prevent another economic depression
A global economic downturn of almost 5% as a result the COVID-19 pandemic has been predicted. This could lead to poverty, unemployment and hunger around the globe. The global ban on the cruel trade in wildlife will help to reduce the chance of another epidemic and protect our livelihoods.

6. Stop the breeding of wild animals to make a profit
Wild animals are sometimes kept in horrible conditions to meet the demand for exotic pets, traditional medicine, entertainment, and other services. They suffer severe mental and physical pain and are often kept captive for life if they are not used to make animal parts.
This is because these animals are difficult to release into the wild. Even worse, keeping captive-bred animals can increase the demand for wildlife trade, which can lead to more suffering.
7. Your actions will stop wild animals from being used in traditional medicine
Around 24,000 Asian bears are kept captive to extract their bile for traditional medicine. These animals may be kept in small cages for their entire lives, given horrible diets and subject to painful bile extractions. Your voice can end cruelty to bears and other wild animals raised for their bile, bones, and other body parts.
8. This will stop millions of wild animals from entering the exotic pet market
In the United States, Canada and the UK alone, nearly 20 million wild animals are kept as exotic pets. African grey parrots and Asian otters, as well as ball pythons, are often forced to travel long distances in order to survive, only for them to be kept in conditions that do not meet their needs.
9. Are you still not convinced? Don’t be discouraged!
COVID-19 has demonstrated that wildlife trade can have a significant impact on vulnerable communities by its negative effects on livelihoods, well-being, and livelihoods. Illicit wildlife trade can be covered by legal trade in wild animals for entertainment, exotic pets, and traditional medicine. Illicit trade is often linked to corruption, terrorism, and the arms-and-drug trade.

A strict enforcement of a ban on wildlife trade would reduce criminal activity and help people’s health. This also means that ethical industries based upon the intrinsic value wildlife have a greater chance of being developed – which will benefit both wild animals and people.
These are only nine reasons to stop the global trade in wild animals. There are many other reasons.
Our petition has been signed by nearly one million people calling on the G20 leaders not to allow global wildlife trading. Get involved.
We can all work together to protect animals, people, and the planet.
